Four volunteers and the Development Officer took a walk from the McKillop Institute, up Johnshill, through the estate to the Kenmuir Hill folly and back along the cycle path to recce the walk for timing and walk grading.
The team are currently devising a number of guided, historical walking tours, beginning around the Village and the Semple estate and working up to one or two walks at Muirshiel Country Park. The walks will cater for differing abilities, stamina levels and group types; in other words, we will have a walk that everyone – the young to the young-at-heart, fully-equipped hill walker to the not-so-ambulant – can do.
If you would like to help with historical research, interview a family member or neighbour who has tales of ‘Lochwinnoch’s Glories’, then the Development Officer – Mhairi Donnelly – would like to hear from you. Contact me at Castle Semple Visitor Centre.
Semple Stories, Lochwinnoch’s Glories is equally funded by the Greater Renfrew and Inverclyde LEADER and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
