Terrain: Quiet rural roads, conifer forest, country tracks.
The Route: Starting at the Cross in the historic centre of Dalry, walk North-West up North Street, crossing Roche Way and take a left on to James Street. Next take a right at West Kilbride Road and the next right at Wingfaulds Avenue where you will see the cemetery on the right hand side. Continue along the road and take the next right passing the Mill and the next left at the junction heading up the hill towards Baidlandhill farm passing Cubeside Farm and Ward Farm along the way. Climb the stiles just before Baidlandhill farm and follow westwards passing through the conifer woods and head south coming out at Wardlaw. Continue the descent until reaching the road and take a left passing Auldmuir and Baidland Mains and then retrace the route back towards Dalry.
Points of Interest: 50m spire of St. Margaret’s Church, Granite Biggart Fountain. Broadlie House was one of the first in Ayrshire to generate electricity for its own lighting in 1892.
Birds: Look out for hen harrier, red grouse, short-eared owl and meadow pipits.
