Ranger Service

The Ranger Service operate from Castle Semple, Muirshiel, Greenock Cut Visitor Centres and Lunderston delivering conservation, recreation and education for all!

Clyde Muirshiel’s Ranger Service works in teams based at two of our three Visitor Centres. They are involved in the day to day running of each site – giving advice on the Access Code, providing blogs, running and hosting public events and 3 weekly volunteer sessions. The Ranger Service uphold the Regional Park aims through the conservation of wildlife and natural habitats, wildlife recording and school groups doing outdoor learning as well as contributing to numerous Projects & Partnerships.

Access Code:

Countryside Rangers in Clyde Muirshiel uphold and advise visitors about the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. This is done through Environmental Education not just in schools but through interaction with visitors in our Visitor Centres and at various information points across the Regional Park. Some of our Events also help promote the code.

Juniper Restoration this project is based around the Cample Burn near Muirshiel, the project plans are available on our Downloads page.

Semple Trail is a multi-agency access, restoration and interpretation project at Castle Semple aiming to improve the links the between communities and facilities in Lochwinnoch and Howwood. Download the project leaflet and map or find out more about the Semple Trail project and its HLF funding.

Muirshiel Woodland Plans usually run for 25 years, in collaboration with the Forestry Commission and with local consultation.

Walks to Health are provided in conjunction with local Walking Development Officers and through GP Referral schemes.
