Hi, we are Allan and Helene, and we have now joined the Ranger Team at Castle Semple Country Park for the season.
Who are we? Here’s a little bit more about us:
My name is Allan Russell and I am a familiar face to some, as I have previously worked as a Countryside Ranger in the Regional Park at Castle Semple, Muirshiel and also up at the Greenock Cut. I have more recently worked as a ranger with Historic Environment Scotland at Holyrood Park, plus I have also worked previously for the RSPB and as field ecologist.
I have a passion for all things nature and you may well see me in the park getting excited about birds, dragonflies and anything else cool that I have seen!
It’s been good to re-familiarise myself with all the Park’s sites since I’ve started, and I can’t wait to get stuck back in to help protect the Regional Park and make it a great place for all its visitors and wild inhabitants.
Originally from France, I have lived in a number of countries around the World before settling down in Scotland.
My background is in tourism and outdoor recreation management, and I spend most of my free time exploring Scotland’s wild places, by scuba diving in sea lochs, hillwalking, rock climbing, and even unicycling on forest trails.
Working as a Seasonal Ranger at Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park will be a fabulous opportunity for me to share my passion for nature conservation and the outdoors with visitors in the Regional Park, and help families to better connect with their local natural and cultural heritage.
We have joined the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park Ranger team thanks to the NatureScot Better Places Green Recovery Fund.
