Movements for 2019 below

Map updated 06/01/19 Luke is still following the same routine on his wintering ground in Spain as he was before the holidays.  We don’t expect any change from him for another month or so.

Map updated 24/01/19 No real news from Luke at the moment.  He is still following the same routine although we have heard he was spotted in Spain which is great to know he is doing well.

Map updated 24/02/19  Luke is spending the majority of his time either on the saltpans or down at the fishing harbour.

Map updated 13/03/19  Luke doesn’t seem to be in a rush to return home.  The numbers of Lesser Black-backed Gulls arriving at Castle Semple is slowly increasing but our tagged birds seem to prefer their wintering grounds.

Map updated 15/04/19 No change from Luke.  He is lapping up the Spanish sunshine and may have found a mate.

Map updated 15/05/19  Luke is still in Spain.  We don’t know the full life history of our birds before we tag them and it’s possible that Luke has decided that the Spanish weather suits him and he has found a mate there.

Map updated 11/06/19  Luke is still hanging out in the same place.  If he has a mate his chicks should hopefully of hatched by now.  We can’t wait to see if he starts to do anything different.

Map updated 29/06/19  No change with Luke.  Hopefully all is going well if he is rearing chicks.

Map updated 14/07/19  We wonder how Luke is coping with the heat in Spain as it has been pretty hot for us here.  At least he is in a nice wetland area.

Map updated 01/08/19 Things still seem to be going well for Luke in Spain.  Hopefully any chicks he has raised will have now fledged.

Map updated 11/08/19  Oh to be a gull in Spain with all the bad weather we have been having.  It’s this time of year that many of our gulls start migrating.  Will this be the case with Luke or will he choose to stay in Spain?
