The Tag-n-Track team hosted the first year Countryside Management students from SRUC today at Muirshiel Country Park. The students came along to learn about bird id skills throught the delivery of our bird ringing workshop. They were looking at feather plumage to help id between sexes and species as well as learning about population dynamics. We were lucky today to catch not one but two Great Spotted Woodpeckers. Both are year old birds that were captured last autumn and it’s great to see they have both suvived the bad winter we experienced. The students enjoyed themselves and hopefully we will see some of them again soon.
