Please avoid walking though the meadow at Johnshill and use the surfaced path which has had its verges strimmed. As the grass verge has been cut this gives a better ability to physically distance from people on the path. We will be encouraging the meadow to expand closer to the main path through spreading the seeds of yellow rattle that parasites grasses, allowing other flowers to grow. This will also involve scything and removing cut grass at the end of summer which will reduce the amount of nutrients that are available for grass growth. The meadow has successfully increased the amount of butterflies and insects within the Johnshill area and it has been great to see the range of flowers coming though during the summer.
