Common and widespread in Britain. This delightful little butterfly always settles with its wings closed showing an eye spot which is placed on the underside, which is meant for scaring off predators. Favourite nectar sources include plants such as Bramble, Buttercups, Ragwort, Yarrow and Fleabane.
