About
Redwing is the UK’s smallest true thrush, often mistaken for song thrush. What makes the redwing distinctive is the orange-red flank patches and creamy stripe above the eye. Mainly seen in an open countryside with orchards and hedges, in winter may be spotted in a garden. Redwing’s food consists of worms and berries. Most of these birds migrate to Britain in September, stay over winter and leave in spring, however some birds stay longer. Redwing is a Red List species.
