Pignut is a member of the carrot family, usually grows in open woods and shady grasslands. Small white flowers form umbrella-like clusters which attract insects such us hoverflies and solider beetles. The bulbs of pignut are eatable, but be careful, it is easy to confuse it with something that looks similar and might be poisonous.
