This species originates in North Africa and migrates to Britain between April and June. The biggest migration of this butterfly was recorded in 2009. A newly emerged adult has orange, black and white-spotted wings, but with time passing the beautiful colours fade quickly, also they may be missing parts of their wings due to nectaring on plants such as Bramble or Thistle.
