Green – Veined White (Pieris napi).

This popular butterfly, often mistaken for his cousin – Small White, can be seen form spring through to autumn. The characteristic green veins are actually an illusion created by a composition of black and yellow scales. This species prefers damp sheltered areas where source of nectar can be found, such as Betony, Bluebell, Buttercup, Red Campion, Thistles, Ragwort and Vetches.
