Chiffchaf is a summer visitor from southern Europe and western Africa, although the number of these birds over-wintering in Britain is increasing. Chiffchaff is a size of a Blue Tit or a Robin, with brown-green upper body, bright breast and dark stripe through the eye. Easily misteaken for Willow Warbler, except it is less yellow with darker legs. The best way to tell those birds apart is to listen to their song – Chiffchaff sounds exactly like its name. It feeds on insects and sap from trees. Nest building, incubating the eggs and feeding the young birds is done by the female.
