Brown hare is widely spread throughout England, Wales and Southern Scotland. It shelters in shallow depression in the ground called ‘form’, in grasslands or woodland edges. Hares are bigger than rabbits, golden-brown with brighter belly and white tail. They are the fastest land mammals in the UK, reaching speed of 72km/h (45m/p), which allowes them to outrun their predators. Their food consists of vegetation and young bark from bushes and trees.
