Event Navigation
Join the Inverclyde Bothy team for a 7 mile circular stroll. We will head north past Loch Thom Cottage. This section has a gentle incline and allows walkers to enjoy great views of Loch Thom. We then head downwards to Overton and the Waterman’s cottage. From here we follow the path next to the Cut itself – back to the visitor centre. The Cut was opened in 1827 and was designated an Ancient Monument in 1972. Along the route we will see much of what remains of the industrial heritage of Greenock while also enjoying the open countryside and fabulous views of Inverclyde and beyond
The walk should take approximatley 3 hours and is considered a moderate walk.
Walkers need to wear suitable clothing for a countryside walk and will also need to bring packed lunch and drinks.
