Evening at the Barr Loch.

Reed buntings and reed canary grass

Despite grey clouds rolling in and the light beginning to fade reed buntings were calling and I snapped a grainy shot of one in the half-light with its black crown and white collar.   Close to shore a mute swan swam languidly giving a raspy soft sibilant honk.  Reed canary grass covers a lot of the Barr Loch shoreline and though it can dominate at the expense of other plants its spiky striking look is a calming sight. A last burst of sun warms my evening view as the surrounding clouds glow bright in the darkening sky and I head back to Lochwinnoch.
