Frequently Asked Questions

How much time do I need to commit?

You can give as much or as little time as you like. We don’t ask for a minimum time commitment as any time you can spare will be appreciated.

Where can I volunteer?

We have volunteer opportunities at all our visitor centres: Castle Semple, Greenock Cut, Muirshiel, and sometimes at our Barnbrock Farm site. We also have volunteer events at Lunderston Bay near Gourock.

How fit do I need to be?

You don’t have to be fit to volunteer as you can work at a pace that suits you, some of our volunteers find the tasks helps increase their physical activity.

Is there an age limit?

There is no upper age limit although for most of our opportunities you have to be over 18. However we do have Duke of Edinburgh programmes for younger volunteers.

What training will I get?

Most of our roles require no formal training; we will train you to ensure you are able to carry out your volunteering role.

I receive welfare benefits, am I allowed to volunteer?
