Greenock Cut has an indoor and outdoor classroom facilities and a mixed range of habitats for younger and older children to investigate.

On Site
Situated in the heart of Inverclyde’s historic water catchment area, the Greenock Cut is a scheduled monument with fantastic views and trails.

Opening hours
Tracks, trails, car parks open all year. Visitor Centre Coffee Shop open weekends in summer (Apr-Oct), closed in winter. Access to Centre and Exhibition possible most days (11am-4.00pm) if Ranger on site. Please phone the Centre in advance to check if the site is open. Contact details can be found here.

Things To Do
Stroll along the Nature Trail and hunt the wood spirits of the Shielhill Glen or ramble alongside the lochs and reservoirs. See the interactive Greenock Cut exhibition or learn about nature at a family Ranger Event.

Great walking, cycling and wildlife opportunities surround the Centre, plus the wild land around the Centre makes it perfect for adventures by Duke of Edinburgh or our land navigation courses.

Find Us
Set next to Loch Thom high in the hills of Inverclyde, you can access Greenock Cut via the scenic Old Largs Road or Shieilhill Glen Road from Inverkip.
