Coaching Matters is a series of workshops at venues across Scotland, delivered in partnership by some of the leading paddling coaches from sport scotland National Outdoor Training Centre, Glenmore Lodge with SCA volunteer Regional Coaching Officers providing local facilitation and input. This new style of event replaces the previous regional coach update events and will offer a wide range of practical workshops suitable for all coaches. Attendance at Coaching Matters counts as Coaching CPD valid for 3 years

- Part 1 – The Coaching / Leadership / Personal Performance Pathways – including developments – classroom based
- Part 2 – Boat based rescue skills. A chance to update boat based rescue skills across a range of craft. (wet & dry options)
- Part 3 – Coaching Practice – A session that takes theory of structuring practice into our coaching sessions.
- Part 4 – Maximise your coaching – helping your paddlers to get the most out of their strokes. Discipline specific coaching / technical model ideas where attendees choose which craft they want to work in. This will include – Observation of performance, How to plan for it / How to analyse it.
The workshops are open to coaches of all levels and disciplines and normally take place on sheltered water environment.
